Here’s good news, bloggies! Now you can use some Getty Images photos free of charge in your blog posts and social media blurts.
Applicable images will have an embedding tool icon ( </> ) that provides a piece of HTML code to insert in your post (on the text tab). Keep in mind, however, that the borrowed image won’t be stored in your WordPress media collection but instead on Getty servers. Getty can snatch them away from you at any time for any reason.
There’s also a credit line in the image, which strikes me as a bit larger than necessary, but most of the time that won’t bother viewers, I imagine. You can also alter the size of these images by editing the code yourself.
Have fun using high-quality photos — legally!
I don’t like the part about the image residing on Getty’s servers … kind of like Amazon making ebooks vanish. But, it’s good to know there’s an option outside of my usual Google slog 😉
That is troubling. Corporations really need to figure something out and stop seeming diabolical.
But corporations are people … they don’t mean to seem diabolical. They’re just trying to compete in the marketplace (yadda yadda) … 😉
