Three of my favorites in one gig: Kenny Burrell on guitar, Stanley Turrentine on sax, and Jimmy Smith on organ (I’m not familiar with the drummer, but he’s clearly up to the task.) I swear, Burrell makes playing the guitar look as easy as tying your shoes, but trust me — what he does ain’t easy. I was lucky enough to see him in concert a few years ago when he was pushing 80 and he could still bring it. Big time.
Who says there’s no such thing as a happy blues? This one’ll cheer you up anytime you need it.
I am going to break into that drummer’s house and steal his ride cymbal.
He has a nice touch on it, that’s for sure.
Plus it looks cool.
