When I read Occasional Soulmates last month, I became so excited that I wanted to call up the author and invite her out to lunch. I imagined drinking tea and talking about men and, you know, having a good ol’ girl talk.


Except that Occasional Soulmates is actually written by a man named Kevin Brennan (Kevin, I think you’re a man, right?).

Of course I knew that. I know the author, or at least I know him through blogs and email. I’ve been stalking following him for quite some time. I read Our Children Are Not Our Children a few years ago (has it been that long?) and immediately became hooked. About a year later was Yesterday Road, which I loved due to its funniness and quirkiness, and because in the end what comes through is not only Brennan’s love for words but for people and the uncanny, wildly irritating yet still endearing things we say and…
