Whenever I think of Joe Cocker, I think of this clip with subtitles of what he might have been saying. Frankly, I like these words better than the original. I do want to hoggify! As luck would have it, I’ve just recently been listening to some old Cocker stuff and loving his ragged vibe. Unique and authentic. Just heard “The Letter” yesterday (featuring the late great Bobby Keys) and had to shake my head at how good it sounded. Enjoy the clip. It’ll bring a smile in the midst of Xmas chaos.
I have a CD with The Letter, Cry Me a River, Feeling Alright, etc. Love his renditions. And he seemed to have a good sense of self, at least in his later years. I have a fond memory of watching him on Saturday Night Live, with John Belushi imitating him. While Belushi rolled around on the stage, Cocker just kept on singing 🙂 Gone too soon …
I just watched a little snippet of that SNL bit. Funny! I love how he just does his thing. My only reservation about Joe is the duet from hell with Jennifer Warnes… 😑
I just listened to this on my ipod last week; thanks for the subtitles! I loved his voice and songs, he’s gone too soon.
Yes… the older I get, the younger 70 seems. 😱
From the tone of voice in your writing I thought you were half of 70! That’s my age, too, but I feel half of 70. Happy Holidays!
Ha! Actually, I’m 81% of 70, but it feels too close for comfort…
Had Joe’s songs playing while I exercised back in the 80’s Loved his soul.
I’m almost sure that’s not the last time you exercised…
No, but I looped his best for an hour. Haven’t done that since the cassette player konked and my MP3 only wants to do shuffle for some reason.
