Boy, I never get tired of seeing giants of American blues on German TV. I don’t know what our networks were showing at the time — probably Pat Boone and Connie Francis — but isn’t it wild that the Germans were feasting on the best of the best: T. Bone Walker, Willie Dixon, Memphis Slim, and Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee? Not to mention Helen Humes and her premium pipes.
It sounds so familiar because rock n’ roll never stopped borrowing from these guys. Without them, there’d be no Hootie & the Blowfish…
Never mind. Forget I said that.
Sometime I’d like to be a good enough musician to earn a cool nickname like T-Bone or Memphis.
Jersey Eric?
Why does it sound mobster when you add “Jersey”?
Wow what a great jam session, certainly a wonderful find, thanks for blogging it. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.
My pleasure. There are plenty more on YouTube — if you don’t mind killing the time!
