Kevin Brennan Writes About What It's Like

Word pictures — literally

Care to brush up on your grammar chops? Here’s a tool that will diagram your sentences for you, possibly revealing that you (like most of us) don’t really know all that much about grammar.

I’m not sure this app will tell you when you’ve done something wrong, but it sure does make pretty pictures, doesn’t it? Paste in a sentence by Proust and you could cover a whole wall!

They also offer a visual thesaurus.

Just another installment in my ongoing series, “Fun With Things That Used To Torture You In School.”

Next up: “Cooking With Calculus.”

Very cool. I like the “Politeness” tool as well. Need to make that mandatory in the office….

I hadn’t tried the Politeness thing earlier. It seems pretty sensitive to me! Told me it was impolite to write in the first person …

I like the idea of “There” as an “Existential there” … as there’s no there there?
