It’s never too early to remind Democrats in the senate that they have not only the tools but also the obligation to exercise constitutional checks and balances against extreme policies put forward by the Trump administration. We have a chance to remind them even before Bozo Mussolini takes office.
Sign this petition telling senate Dems to block the nomination of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.
Letting that throwback to antebellum law and order hold the reins of justice in this country is like letting Pee Wee Herman fly a 747 full of babies. You’ve heard his remarks on race. Maybe you haven’t heard how he defended Alabama’s “separate but unequal” education system when he was his home state’s AG back in the ’90s. And maybe you didn’t know he prosecuted civil rights workers for voter fraud surrounding their efforts to register black voters (they were acquitted). The dude has a long and sordid history. If confirmed, he’d be in control of the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department.
“Cap’n Carl! Help me land this thing!”
Considering that Jeff Sessions, a four-term senator, is Chuck Schumer’s workout partner, it won’t be easy blocking that saltine, what with senatorial decorum ruling the day (except when the Republicans throw it out the window).
So sign the petition and help get the ball rolling on resistance when resistance is called for. It’s literally all we can do right now.
If we succeed, we’ll have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
Being in the UK I can’t get involved at this level. But, the democratic process is there to be used.
Good luck.
Roger
It’s long past time for Democrats to grow a pair.
I can already hear the shriveling, and we’re nowhere near inauguration day.
The Democrats should really push back. They have nothing to lose.
