Kevin Brennan Writes About What It's Like

This is the week to get vocal about health care

If the heinous Graham-Cassidy health care bill is going to pass the senate, it’s going to pass this week. That’s why this is the week to contact a few wavering senators to urge them to stand up and become heroes by voting NO on the bill when it comes to the floor.

I don’t know about you, but since my wife and I are self-employed, we’re going to get the shit kicked out of us if this bill passes and the ACA is effectively repealed. We have five years to go before Medicare kicks in, and in that interim we can expect to spend close to $80,000 on health care premiums alone. Copays and deductibles on the ridiculous Bronze plan will cost us even more.

So it is in complete self-interest that I have just faxed Senators Murkowski, Collins, and Capito, imploring them to kill the bill.

I thought faxing might be better than phoning because it could cause more chaos in the office, smoke billowing out of that Canon, paper jams galore.

You can fax the senators of your choice with this tool. Oh, and I also attached this open letter (PDF) from major medical groups, excoriating Graham-Cassidy.

It’s time, citizens. After September 30, the bill would need sixty votes to pass rather than fifty-one, so our only hope for a responsible, bipartisan solution is to have this bill #TakeAKnee — to the crotch!
