We found the rest of our lives there,
We finally found the rest of our lives.
Gosh, it was just twenty-eight years ago today that I met my wife. Seems like only twenty-seven …
I wrote this song a couple of years ago about our first meeting, just to commemorate it because we almost didn’t meet. It was one of those blind-date sitches where you agree on a certain location, a certain time, and we both misunderstood which street corner we had agreed on. I was catty-corner from her at the intersection of Cole and Carl Streets in San Francisco. After about twenty-five minutes I spotted this enraged woman on the opposite corner and said to myself, “I bet that’s her.”
We turned lemons into lemonade and spent two great hours talking at the Kezar Bar & Restaurant, which still exists. Some drinks helped smooth over our misunderstanding.
After that we made a big batch of lemonade and spent the next twenty-eight years together.
Happy anniversary, love.
Happy Anniversary, Kevin!
Thanks, Susan! My, have the years flown by … 😉
Happy (belated) anniversary! I remember this story and I love seeing the photo … all those years of taking the N-Judah home, stopping at Carl and Cole. Good times 😉
I used to live on Ashbury and I worked at 9th and Judah, so I always took the N too. Grabbed something for dinner at Ashbury Market and walked up from Cole Valley. And Sue grew up on Twin Peaks, not far from there. It was a great part of town to start my life in SF!
Cute story 🙂
What is meant to be is meant to be!
Thanks, Iris. And it seems like only yesterday … 😉
