WHAT THE HELL

Kevin Brennan Writes About What It's Like

A political anthem for our times

KevinBrennan · No More Tomorrows

I’ve been working on this song for quite a while, trying to find the right message for it. In the beginning I was leaning toward one of my usual tongue-in-cheek joints, a la “Turnkey Boyfriend” or something like that, but then the phrase “No More Tomorrows” got into my head and I said: That’s it. It’s time for a serious one.

Because it’s starting to feel like there’ll really be no more tomorrows unless the good guys win in November.

So here it is. My contribution to the political miracle that has to happen. Please listen, and if you like it, share it. Maybe people will be singing “No More Tomorrows” at future Biden rallies!

And like I always say, I’m no singer, but the song has words so I sung ’em.

And those words are:

Never in my life,
Have I seen such sorrow and pity
In the country and the city,
And across the plains, so much pain,
Affronts to our dignity,
Insanity reigns.

We gotta stop the fighting,
Where there’s the will there’s uniting.

No more tomorrows,
No more tomorrows unless we win.
I believe that tomorrow
We’ll begin again.

We need to seize the day,
To gather in force
And return to the source
Of communal power.
This is the hour
We take control of our lives
And decency thrives.

We gotta stop the fighting,
Where there’s the will there’s uniting.

No more tomorrows,
No more tomorrows unless we win.
I believe that tomorrow
We’ll begin again.

O wasn’t that a time?
When we rose and embraced
And rediscovered our grace.
And then, from the top down,
We turned the whole thing around.
We stood and reclaimed our worth,
And experienced as one,
Rebirth.

We put an end to the fighting,
Where there’s the will there’s uniting.

No more tomorrows,
No more tomorrows unless we win.
I believe that tomorrow
We’ll begin again.

Nicely done, Kevin! Sounds spacious, and catchy enough to be an anthem.

Thanks for taking the time to listen, Audrey! I’m so glad you liked it. I just thought something a little bit hopeful was in order …
