WHAT THE HELL

Kevin Brennan Writes About What It's Like

All my flash fiction in one convenient spot

I’ve added a page to the blog menu on the left sidebar, labeled “Flash fiction.” There you can see the little pieces I’ve been lucky enough to have published (or scheduled for publication) over the past year or so.

What I love most about flash fiction is the sense of efficient self-containment. These pieces are more like prose poems, haiku, or, sometimes, knock-knock jokes–one-shot deals with, usually, a simple message to deliver, though occasionally they hint at a lot more going on under the surface than first impressions might suggest.

Check them out, and poke around on the magazine websites while you’re there. The ‘net is full of great tiny fictions.
